Dim sum and then dim sum more

Wow what a first day!  Day one was set aside by our host school for Chinese cultural immersion..  We had so many experiences today that I will try to highlight some of the top ones.  Upon awakening we got to experience a market where we picked up some forgotten travel items.  It was so interesting to see the different fruits and goodies available...we were able to decipher prices and we're learning how to figure out the conversion rate.

Next we were treated to a welcome dinner by the principal and some of the teachers.  We were extremely excited to rode our first double decker bus to get there!!!!  We learned to hold on tight coming down the stairs for our stop because the bus may start and stop very suddenly.  Last year one of the ladies fell down them and broke an arm but we were thrilled with our experience.  The meal was a royal feast of flavors and seemingly never ending food.  The teachers we had not met yet already knew us by name and greeted us as we entered.  Everyone was so generous and truly loved introducing us to so many foods.  One delicacy that we were all brave enough to try was CHICKEN FEET!!!!!  Tyler was especially strong as he broke a chopstick which then flew and gave Jessica a scratch on her forehead....it was especially entertaining for our hosts!

Other highlights were a calligraphy class and a Chinese paper cutting class...both were so fun to try and we have a few budding artists that will be bringing their talents home to develop their skills.  We were also able to have a very INTENSE foot rub later in the evening which left Suzy's foot bruised and swollen (please pray for her).  Then we were treated to another very large and delicious dinner which left Tyler falling asleep at the table with the rest of us not far behind.  I don't think we need to eat the rest of the trip.

We have been so blessed already and can't wait for church tomorrow and VBS preparation!

Here are a few pictures....
